Recruitment of Librarian, Deputy Librarian, Assistant Librarian at IIT BHU Last Date: 10.08.2026

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) invited applications from eligible candidates for filling up the following post:

Post (पद): Librarian

No. of Posts(रिक्तियों की संख्या): 01 (UR) 

Essential Qualification and Experience (अनिवार्य शैक्षिक आवश्यकता और अनुभव):

(i) A Master’s Degree in Library Science / Information Science/ Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent Grade of B in the UGC seven points scale and consistently good academic record set out in these Regulations.  

(ii) Minimum of 18 years of post-qualification regular experience in reputed Libraries as College Librarian / Assistant Librarian OR at least 13 years of regular experience as a Deputy Librarian or equivalent in Pay Level 12* in a reputed Institution or University.  

(iii) Evidence of innovative library service and organization of published work.  Desirable: A M.Phil./ Ph.D Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation/ Archives and Manuscript keeping. 

Age(आयु): 57 years

Pay (वेतनमान): Level-14

Post (पद): Deputy Librarian

No. of Posts(रिक्तियों की संख्या): 01 (UR) 

Essential Qualification and Experience (अनिवार्य शैक्षिक आवश्यकता और अनुभव):(i) A Master’s Degree in Library Science / Information Science/ Documentation with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent Grade of B in the UGC seven-point scale and a consistently good academic record.  

(ii) 05 years’ experience as an Assistant University Librarian/ College Librarian in Pay Level 10*.  

(iii) Evidence of innovative library service and organization of published work and professional commitment, computerization of library.  

Desirable: A M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree in Library Science/ Information Science / Documentation/ Archives and Manuscript keeping/computerization of library.

Pay (वेतनमान): Level-12

Post (पद): Assistant Librarian

No. of Posts(रिक्तियों की संख्या): 01 (UR) 

Essential Qualification and Experience (अनिवार्य शैक्षिक आवश्यकता और अनुभव):(i) Master‘s Degree in Library Science/Information Science or Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree, with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in seven point scale, wherever the grading system is followed) with at least 05 years of relevant experience in Pay Level 7* or above in the Central Govt. / State Govt. / Central & State Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central & State Research Organization.  

(ii) A consistently good academic record, with knowledge of computerization of a library.  

(iii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
