Educational Qualification( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता ) and Experience(अनुभव)
(i) A Master’s Degree in Library Science /Information Science/documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven points scale and consistently good academic record. 
ii) At least thirteen years as a Deputy Librarian (AGP `8000/-) in a university library or eighteen years’ experience as a College Librarian (AGP of `6000/). 
iii) Evidence of innovative library service and organization of published work. 
iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic staff and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010, along with amendments from time to time including the 4th Amendment to the Regulations dated 11/07/2016. 
Desirable( वांछनीय योग्यता ): M.Phil/ Ph.D. Degree in library science/ information science / Documentation / archives and manuscript-keeping. 
OR
B. Deputy Librarian completing service of three years in the AGP of Rs. 9000 and otherwise eligible as per the API scoring system and PBAS methodology developed in UGC Regulations, 2010, along with amendments from time to time including the 4th Amendment to the Regulations dated 11/07/2016 with a Ph.D. qualification.
